Confidence is a life hack.
In case you’re wondering how to build it, I have a few tips for you:
- Have a routine! You’ll feel like you have more control of your day. You know what to expect and the purpose behind the action. It’s too easy to doom scroll or waste the day waiting for a spark. Something as simple as making your bed immediately as you rise or heading to the gym after work can be a small win for the day.
- Do things that scare you. I’ve disliked heights ever since I almost fell off a rollercoaster when I was 10 years old. However, a couple of years ago, I decided to try my hand at indoor rock climbing. Initially, I only made it up the wall halfway before quitting. But then I basically stopped thinking and started doing. The things we fear aren’t always as scary as the thought of them.
- Reject any negative self talk. You have to live with your inner critic for the rest of your life — make sure it’s your biggest ally. No one’s perfect and mistakes happen. I know we’re in this era where people believe high self esteem equates to narcissism, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. You have a right to love and support yourself the same way you would do for another.
If you can incorporate all three of things into your life, you’re going to feel so much more competent, and therefore, confident.
